    Pore Speling

Look at these cake wrecks! More than a few people need to get a dictionary!

A while back I ordered a cake for a gentleman I know named Gilberto. Even though I spelled it for the young man on the phone, including telling him  "It's like 'Gilbert' with an 'O', the cake I picked up was adorned with this:

    Happy Birthday O'Gilbert

    EcoFont

Spranq, of the Netherlands, has developed a new environmentally friendly font! Who knew we could use less ink in this manner?

    The EcoFont's website states:

The Ecofont is developed by SPRANQ, based on a hunch of Colin Willems.

With the Ecofont, SPRANQ hopes to increase environmental awareness. Some ideas are:

    • End-users: print only when necessary, use a modern, efficient printer and use unbleached paper.
    • Graphic designers: use modern colour separation techniques to avoid unnecessary wastage in ink. In paper choice, take the environment into account.
    • (Offset) printers: avoid modern laser techniques that make ink indivisible from the paper. Keep an eye on innovations, such asplant-based ink.
    • Printer manufacturers: invest in environment-conscious innovation.

An other way to use less ink is to set the print quality on your printer to draft mode. When printing items for our own use, or for temporary use, draft mode is the way to go! It takes only seconds, and is found on the pop up dialogue window that appears when issuing a print command!

Using the selection mode is another way to save ink AND paper. Simply highlight the section of a page (online or document) , go to print, and select selection instead of all! Save ink by NOT printing ads, heards, etc. Try it!

    Getting Closer!

Getting closer to a full restore. I still have a few hours of work to do! This has been a doozy! The final result will be well worth it!

    Extremely Difficult Restoration

I've been working on this 1950's photo for two days! It is a very large original, 8x10! It is full of discolorations, scratches and gunk. Here is the original, about 1/4 size!

Here is what I have so far. I probably lack 3-4 hours more. It is very tedious, bit by bit work!

I'll post the finished product, probably tomorrow!

    Hasta la pasta!
